A few stones from the last few months that are looking for a new home, or at least one with some free shelf space . Prices are intentionally low as they do not include shipping, though as ever - postage from here is cheaper than pretty much anywhere else afaics. Ping me a message with what you might be interested in and and I can let you know exactly what it would be. Or indeed with any other q.s about any of them, and 'll answer as honestly and best I can.
All of these stones have their original old-school, hand-carved wooden holders or boxes. Which I can clean up and include if you want, or not if you don't. All of them should turn out as nice as the one in the Idwal pics, hopefully.
Prices are USD / GBP / AUD.
Washita - $67 / £50 / $89 SOLD
9 inch versions of old Washitas are fairly uncommon, especially with a decent amount of thickness left to them. It has the ghost of the original label; I believe this is probably what was sold as a 'Red Washita', almost certainly 100+ years old. An excellent knife stone, though may be less good for razors. 228 x 53 x 26.
Llyn Idwal 1 - $48 / £35 / $63 SOLD
Excellent knife or tool stone, though not suited for razors because of some coarser quartz inclusions. These don't release grit; they're equally hard, just make it better for knives rather than razors. 240 x 51 x 20.
Llyn Idwal 2 - $48 / £35 / $63 SOLD
Really top quality, and very pretty Idwal. This will happily finish a razor, but if the surface is conditioned lower it's surprisingly quick as final finishing knife stone too (this is the beauty of Idwals!). Stone has a fracture 1/4 of the way along, the original seller described it as a 'surface blemish' that couldn't be felt. I'm not so sure... I think the stone might have been broken at some point and then repaired incredibly well. Either way - it is completely unnoticeable in use for either knives or razors. 207 x 46 x 10.
Hindostan - $41 / £30 / $53 SOLD
Really nice, big and pure old Hindo. This stone is on the finer side of them at around 5k ish I'd guess. Bevel polishes very well; giving a good, dark jigane with a very light scratch pattern and nice contrast. This is a very similar stone to one I sold recently to another member here, who I believe was a big fan. Should also be be excellent in the middle of a razor progression. 221 x 57 x 26.
