GF and I are visiting her family in Saratoga Springs to celebrate her birthday. Any recs for out this way? (Olive Garden is leading the list - help!)

@Malcolm Johnson - what's good in Draper/Bluffdale/Herriman area?

Saratoga Springs food options are going to be straight up bleak. Lehi and American Fork are close and (with apologies to the the Blues Brothers) have both kinds of restaurants: national chains and Utah chains! To be honest I rarely eat in that area and have never had anything to write home about. Saibaidee for Thai looks promising. Jinya Ramen, Mo Betta, and Taqueria 27 are all tolerable local chains.

If you're able to venture up to us heathens in SLC, I'd recommend Arlo, Caffe Molisse, Chanon Thai, Oquirrh, The Pearl, White Horse. Post Office Place has good drinks and small plates if that's your jam. Caputo's isn't worth the trip for a meal on its own but if you need lunch around SLC it's a good option and has a lot of specialty Italian stuff in their market. Central 9th Market and Feldman's also good lunch/sandwich options. Red Iguana is semi-famous but overrated IMO.

In Draper area I’d recommend OAK if you like thin crust pizza, Side of Aloha for Hawaiian food (call ahead to see if they have fish still, they fly their fish in from Hawaii weekly and it’s truly exceptional), and then I honestly end up eating at most restaurants in the Chinatown supermarket. pho Hong chau for Vietnamese food, Baek Ri Hyang has a galbi jim that’s easily enough food for 4 people (and honestly delicious) plus refillable sides/banchan, Great Wall is quite good for Szechuan food, one noodle has handmade noodles…… I will also echo chanon thai as a great option in Salt Lake and will also endorse an old job “Provisions” in millcreek for good food.
