We are on holiday. It's pretty bad weather today, so my wife and daughter wanted to go to the cinema: Barbie. And they seriously asked me if I wanted to go with them.

What do you do instead? Sharpen a knife.

I've done this many times when we stay somewhere and have to use local knives. Works well under the circumstances.

last place we stayed the kitchen had a honing steel in the knife drawer, which worked reasonably well on their soft knives.

Of course all the cutting boards they provided were glass...
