Selling my Shig 240 kasumi gyuto, need the funds for other stuff, comes with a blue box. I'm not the first owner, bought it off someone on here, it was in a worse state when I got it, it needed a little thinning and refinishing. I thinned it out a little and refinished it in the original shig kasumi style, including a polished spine and choil. There were a few small scratches from when I got it that I couldn't get out, but they're very small, only noticable if you look close. It was already a good performer before I thinned it, now it's even better, doesn't wedge through carrots as much. Really love the profiles on these, feels authoritative, plus shig steel is great imo, good retention for white-ish steel and its super easy to refresh the edge. This thing also has some really nice banding. I also replaced the handle with a taihei ho wood octagonal handle. Please see the measurements below:
Blade length: 244 mm
Heel height: 52.5 mm
Spine thickness at handle: 5.5 mm
Spine thickness 1/2 way: 2 mm
Weight: 203 g
Bought for US$1200, selling for US$1250 + shipping, added $50 to cover the cost I put in. I'm located in Sydney, shipping from here to the US costs ~US$70 for fully covered express auspost shipping (3-6 business days)
Please see the images below, I tried to get a better spine pic but failed, will try again tomorrow, also tried to capture the banding and failed. Also should mention, this is straight off refinishing, so it needs a quick edge sharpen, I can do this before shipping if desired.
