Bought Takada No Hamono gyuto

Hey folks, I'm looking for a newer iteration Takada No Hamono Suiboku, ideally a 240 gyuto but would consider 210 too, with 50/50 grind and 50/50 choil (some early choils were distinctly, uncomfortably ground for right hand users).

If anyone has one they'd part with, please let me know. I'm not super pick on steel - Shiro or Aogami both would work. Also be open to trade or outright purchase. Have lots of options for trade to be considered include going up or down market.

Not that I have one, but you may want to state if you're also open to Ginsan.

I had a ginsan 210 at one point and sometime regret selling it.

Good point. I'd really prefer Shirogami or Aogami but would definitely look at and consider Ginsan.

I have a Hitohira Yohei up for sale, not a Takada no Hamono so not quite what you're looking for. Also has the righty choil (which I softened) so again not your criteria

Good luck with the search. The ginsan I had was a superb knife that I only sold as I had a custom coming in.

JFYI. I’m not sure the symmetrical choil ones necessarily have symmetric grinds. Mine doesn’t from what I can tell with a ruler , but it would probably cut well enough anyway.

Awesome tip. Thanks. This is great, but clearly has that righty-specific choil of the older Takadas. Thanks to Bernal for the great photos of the choil, you can see it. If someone disagrees, let me know!

He started doing Hanabis and Reikas in Suiboku finish -
That one looks like a well used Suiboku to me due to the surface texture - it has the little irregular dimples

TBH I didn't know it was a thing until that petty was put up on BST yesterday. I thought the poster might be bu11sh1ting about the suiboku but looked it up and sure enough, they are out there.

Looks like this one is Nakagawa. White #2 is usually Y. Tanaka. Or so I thought.

Bumping this, and will consider all sizes/specs of Takada stuff - suji, gyuto, nakiri, and suiboku or more commonplace finish - feel free to put something out there. I had a few things I thought were going to work out and let's just say they slipped through my fingers. pretty crazy for a white 2, but retail might have gone up a bit. I paid about $900 for a 210 blue 1 dama when I was in Japan in December. It seems that CKC had it for $755 previously.

That’s Damascus suiboku tho, much more understandable
