Hi guys. I just purchased the Tojrio Nakiri DP from an online merchant. In all the pictures i've seen of the product, including the pictures on the Tojiri site, the knife has the letters DP written on the knife, just above the "Made in Japan" label. The knife I received says VG10 in the space where DP is usually marked. I understand that the DG is made with VG10 steel. Additionally, my knife has highly visible, vertical machining lines that aren't shown in any image i've seen online.

I know that Tojiri has sister companies / sub-brands like Fujitora and Fujiro. I'm worried that the merchant sent me one of these sub-brands instead of an actual Tojiri. When I use google translate via my phone camera, the Japanese written on the knife does translate to Tojiri. Maybe i'm just being paranoid, but I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had any knowledge about the DP vs. VG10 marking.

Hi,
I had bought a bread knife at the Tojiro store in Tokyo, and mine has also a vertical machinery line, however indeed it's strange you don't have a DP marking but VG10. The kanji on the knife are indeed those of Tojiro and not Fujitora.
One thing to check is that all the Tojiro have around the edge this horizontal hairline that's looks like a dent but it's actually to show the VG10 below the upper layer do you see that ? i have put a screenshot below.
