Not my post but thought it is interesting. On one hand it looks like it will sharpen out no problemo. On another hand getting a tipped brand new knife is never a good thing and I am surprised Konosuke would let something like this slip past their QC.

To add to the above: if it is for your own use, that will rapidly sharpen out.

I would let the retailer know the situation. If it’s a known sharpening master like JKI or DC Cutlery, they’ll likely make it good for the price of shipping. If this is a collector knife, taking it to one of those two is possibly your best option unless the retailer is willing (able) to exchange it.

(enable OCD) If it were mine, first thing would be a thinning, and dam the finish! I’m seeing more bevel, esp. toward the tip, than I’d like. Doing that will make that blemish go away.
