My Makiri is one of my favorite knives. I was looking around to see what was available and I found this forge. Not sure what the name of the forge is Google translate only partially is translating the site from Japanese. The swordsmith that makes the Makiri is named Fukube Kaji. They have and interesting line up of tools and knives. The Makiri is hand forged from Watetsu, and Tamahagane steel.

The prices of the Makiri range from about $100 USD to over $700 USD. I would have ordered one of the cheaper ones but they have a 6-to-12 month delivery time,

You are correct. This basic blade design is hard to improve on. Your link took me to another design I have been looking for. This Green River knife is very close to the Marble, Nessmuk, Bushcraft knife. Originally it was Marbles turn of the 20th century take of George Washington Sears (pen name Neesmuk) idea of a bushcrafter fixed blade knife. It became the official Boy Scout knife about 1920.
