I was looking at the BenchCraft catalog this is a high end supplier of US made wood working tools. I found the tool holder Mag-Blok. They are wood with an internal magnet. They are available in Maple, cherry, quarter sawed Oak, and walnut. These would look great in any kitchen.

Mag-Bloks have been around for 15 or so years. They sparked many a DIY project for people seeking less expensive options and better magnetic force. in the ITK days people would watch for them to release new batches (they had a pretty low production rate). They played with a lot of cool woods. I think I have a BNIB one around somewhere, as where we redid our kitchen we went with knife blocks instead of hanging knives.

I have a cherry MagBlok from way way back. As @WildBoar says, they did some with very cool woods, but for my money today, it's Piotr the Bear or Woodsom. Both offer very nice options that are rock solid.

Perhaps Woodcrafted/MagBlok has kept pace with the state of the art, but the Woodsom I have is hands down a better magnetic knife holder.

Some knives are able to rotate a bit on my mag bloks

I believe that's because it's a single row of magnets, so you end up with a pivot point. I think it will happen with any block that uses only a single row of magnets, not just MagBlok.

A block with a dual row of magnets doesn't create the pivot, as long as the rows are separated sufficiently such that you have two points of magnetic attraction.
