So around 6pm yesterday. Actually right as I was cleaning up all the dust. A bad storm hit. I was busy working so I didnt even notice it was happening. Next thing I know its suddenly dark outside.

Wind going crazy. So i figured I should check online. And yeah there was a tornado warning.

As soon as I saw that i rushed as fast as I could to put everything I could away. I was outside still doing that when the worst of it hit here. Took down a bunch of branches in my neighbors yard all at once.

Thankfully everything is fine here. Didn't get hurt. Blew down part of my fence. But besides that no serious damage.

But almost a million people lost power. So it might take a while to get things back on. So definitely no work the next few days will get done.
This sucks, most importantly stay safe.

glad things are (mostly) safe for you. I too had to learn some hard lessons about purchasing things early. I usually do dishes by hand and neglect to replace the broken dishwasher for years. Recently finally gave in and spend the dough and I don't understand why I didn't do it earlier..so much time wasted

Man that blows. Glad it's not too bad at your house.

Blocks all cut up for the ancient redgum people! This is about half of them. Some really nice figure and coloring in this batch, think you guys will love it. Love the contrast in the wood vs just straight brown or black. Reminds me of macassar ebony.

Still doing profiling work. Now I'm shaping the tang, neck area on the grinder. Then I will have to use a file to square it up.

I'm thinking this will be two batches. All the 225mm are getting done in this one

If there is anyone that would prefer being in the second batch let me know. There is someone that reached out already to be put on the later end of what I finish but otherwise it will be picked at random. I have 13 240s right here. What I might do is work on 11 now and then 11 or 12 when these or done. Just for efficiency. That said should be about a month give or take for each batch probably.

Been up all night heat treating. Been doing batches of 2 at a time. So still have to do 3 more batches.

Had a set of 2 both crack. So gotta do 2 more today than expected.

Sucks. For you guys it doesnt matter much, since i still will have the same ammount for the first batch. But for me i have to make sure i can buy extra to replace these. And spend more time shaping 2 extra blanks. 🙁

Ok. Well. So far 9 survived ht. I have 4 more i planned to heat treat this batch. Do thats 13.

3 cracked. So i guess assuming all 4 of the ones left survive this first batch will be 13 then i will do the next with 10 (or 9 i need to check the final number).

I just put 9 in to temper for an hour. And im laying down. I need sleep. I cant finish the other 4 today.

Seriously, don't burn yourself out. Everything suffers when you do. Overall I find working in batches of 5 to be most efficient overall, if not for the heat treating steps. Fixing fatigue related errors slows you down a lot in the long haul.
