Hey any short, buff chefs out there! Time for me to get some new chef coats. I’ve been looking for ones that fit my body instead of either being way too tight in some parts or being a dress that looks like I got it off Omar the Tentmaker. I’m 5-8 and wear a size 44 jacket and 30” waist; I get it’s supposed to be loose but I’d like it to at least fit reasonably.

I could always get some tailored, yeah, but that’d 1) just feel even d-baggier than posting my measurements online o_O and 2) seem a bit wasteful and precious for a $30 piece of work clothing. The way some of these bunch up under an apron is just obnoxious though and I just want them to be comfy and not look stupid. The ones I like best of what I have are Chefworks short sleeve in a medium heavy cotton with plastic buttons and a chest pocket; what else ya got?

Hey, not much to suggest but I like the thread idea. My body shape has changed a lot in the last two year, and I'm kinda over the trashbag fit and awkward sizing of "off the rack" coats lol.

Not sure I'd go for tailoring, but maybe looking at higher end coats is the move?

I wear Bragard at work and it’s been very comfortable between the 2 styles I’ve used.

Get it tailored. Tell everyone it’s honyaki.

Man, just get it tailored. If you want something to fit you with your non-standard dimensions, that's the only way.
🤣🤣🤣 I missed this when I checked the forum last night - non standard dimensions 😭😭😭☠️☠️☠️

But it’s a good point, I do get a lot of things tailored and/or have trouble finding things that fit well sometimes, and if I do really care/get bugged about the fit…

Tbh it’s not like I’d tell anyone anyway, I think my real reservation is that I read about some really big names getting their cheffies tailored (like in interviews and stuff) and I’m not those guys yet. Might as well get over it (but still want to hear who likes what, @panda I didn’t even know they made chef coats in actual coat sizes!)

I'll 2nd the Capri jackets from Chefworks for a short sleeve breathable jacket. Thats what I wore while working in miami beach.
Elsewhere when a dressier/long sleeve is needed I always liked the Sicily from Chefworks.
they are a great fit I wore them for years.
For size reference I am 5'7" 170 lbs (Certainly not all muscle) and size 32 waist.
I wore a size 42.
here I am a few years back in the Sicily jacket size 42.
