Know they are over priced and hard to come by right now but seeing if the power of KKF community might have a idea on where to get one for a decent price

Looking for
3060 3070 3080
2060 super-2080 ti

Thanks

I used ATR stonks and stockalert. Here's the link to stockalert - Stock Alert Discord Server
Haha, the two cards are in use. My wife and I both needed an upgrade. Running warzone at 40-50 fps at 720 p on a 2k 144 hz monitor wasn't any fun

If you have something that's at least functional for now I'd just wait another year; right now is the worst possible time ever to shop for a graphics card. You'll get significantly mroe bang for your buck if you're able to hold out for another year.
Have you considered working through all the classics and any unplayed games you have left in your library?

6800 xt is really nice. Temps and performance haven't disappointed me. AMD gpus have a bad reputation because of the drivers, but at this point in its lifecycle, they're stable. Performance matches my friend's 3080 (when raytracing is off of course). I have the asrock taichi 6800 xt and he has an evga 3080.

Bitcoin to blame!

edit-not Bitcoin

gpus and cpus both perform calculations, but they are used for different purposes. gpus are specialised chips that excel at matrix algebra, which is required for 3d graphics and machine-learning tasks like translating languages. They are also the best tool for mining Ethereum (though not bitcoin). In contrast, cpus are more versatile, and handle most everyday operations.

if you get a new PC and it happens to come with the OEM Ryzen 9 3900 (65W TDP) I'll take it off your hands ....passive cooling is enough of a challenge as it is, no need to up the ante with 105W TDP...

I actually ordered a new PC (5800x, 3070 ti) and now happen to have a 3700x spare.

that 3700X is 65 W TDP but octacore Ryzen 7 and is the same as I'm currently using, my music needs 12 cores 😁 . I may have to simply order a new system to swipe the 3900 from it and replace it with the Ryzen 7 I'm now using for audio...want to stay below the 100W TDP limit for now..just got the copper heatpipes and copper connector block to start tinkering with true passive cooling.

i think all crypto is mined on dedicated miners these days (last 5 years), and they get replaced ever 6 months or so. because they get too slow.

my brother probably built the worlds first passively cooled pc computer. there is nothing magic about it. imo.

all computers i've built for the last 15 years has been like this:
1 fan only. on the cpu cooler. run it as chassie fan. lowest voltage that comes out of the board. like 5v. or 7. or 12 if its a quiet fan. either way you want a constant rpm out of it.
then the best/biggest heatpipe cooler on the cpu. then a passive psu and gpu.
done. use the most silent 120mm fans. nexus, papst, noctua etc etc.
open up the case so you have a wind tunnel. so air gets moved.

completely inaudible from about 1meter. and then i mean completely inaudible.

back in 2004 or so i had get a separate heatpipe/cooler to put on the gpu but now you can buy gpus as passives from the factory. and no need to hack up the psus either. just get a seasonic passive.

also marcel there is another thing to consider.
painting the coolers black. it might sound like a joke but its not. matte black radiates more heat than shiny metal surfaces.
however convection is a whole nother thing.

about 20 years or so ago my dad ran a racing team. cars. 24h racing. and not multimillion budgets like le mans cars today.
and they won this whole series for 4 or 5 years straight. and they were competing against porsche cup cars. old dtm/btcc cars etc.

my dad told me one of the key things as to why they won all those years was the brakes. their brakes still worked well after 24h. as opposed to pretty much all of the other teams. one of the things they did that no one else did was to use wheels with really thick flat spokes. 5-6 spokes, 10-12cm wide. sandblasted and then painted matte black. almost like a disc wheel but with cut out triangles.

most other teams went with silver or white wheels with "lots of air" in the design to "ventilate the brakes". the thing is that when the discs are glowing orange its a bit late for convection.

and most other teams asked my dad how his brakes could work for 24h. and he simply told them: i painted the rims black. no one believed him. :) but it was the truth.

so yeah painting **** black will cool it faster too. just so you know.

Yeah there is no magic in a passive PC, just that the fan noise is annoying AND the PWM/power draw is polluting things downstream. I have a heatpipe and block waiting to be implemented...
My PSU is passive other than for startup, it's a Corsair AX1200i. Edit: Oh and the case is open, work in progress means that most audio gear is 'delidded'.

Black is def the color of choice, although I prefer copper as heat sink material underneath, it's thermal conductivity is next to none and you need to conduct before convection can start on a large enough surface!

@soigne_west I see several 3060 cards on a local trading place, all around 1000 euro and several other supliers like this:

for audio gold and plat psus will contaminate audio. but its also the volt regulators on the board. i tracked this **** down with a mic and then a high sensitivty coil. been going on for at least 10 years. basically it spreads in the ground plane. i solved it 90% by using balanced everything. but then you need studio/pro stuff.

Actually here’s the prebuilt. Normally, yes I would just build it myself but with the way things are currently… you all get the picture. Plus I’m lazy.

lol a ****ing computer to 3k.

i hope you will keep it for 10 years.
