Let's try something fun and start a thread to see who is the best guesser. Post up a pic of something for us to try and identify.

Ideas include spine tapers, cladding lines, KU texture, wood, handle shapes, or anything even not knife related.

The answer is dyed black ash burl. This color came out very similar to the reds in amboyna.

Yes I have a bunch of dyed stabilized materials, but I don't do it myself. I leave it to the pros who have all the proper equipment to do it right.

(not just a vacuum pot and a toaster oven, but like actual lumber drying kilns and equipment capable of super high pressure for resin penetration)
