Hello Everyone! I'm Seckin from Turkey. I am an active Electronics Engineer at age 43 working as a researcher/developer in a Goverment Research Center in Kocaeli, TR.

I have been a knife enthuisast for quite a while, started with pocket knives and moved on to kitchen knives later. I also have many other surrounding hobbies like EDC gear, Headphones, Flashlights, Fountain Pens and sharpness related Straight Razors and Wet Shaving. Photography and Car Detailing are also other hobbies I have been following for around 20 years.

I am mainly a three meal guy, home cook, loving the effort in breakfast, preparing appetizers and salad for the lunch and cooking meat for my daughter, soup and veggies for my recently vegetarian wife. I am not a extensively meat guy but rather have meat diced or minced along with vegetable meals.

My knife accumulation exceeds my abilities in cooking, tough :) I am mainly a Zwilling / Miyabi user as this brand has the most appealing selection with fair pricing in our country. Unfortunately being an Engineer usually causes attraction to the specifications and numbers, colliding with my acquisition habits, resulting in equipment buildups.

Just to list a few of what I have at home;

* Zwilling Pro 12 cm, 16 cm Chefs, 14cm Rocking Santoku, 18cm Wood Santoku

Seçkin (sounds like "Sech-khin"), using the nickname Kokopelli here as like on other forums I attend for a while.

Welcome.

Sounds like a pretty cool collection. Which Naniwa 8000? And what kind of polishes do Welsh slate stones create?

Thank you for your warm welcome.

My Naniwa 8000 is yellow ceramic, Specialty Sharpening Stone (SP-480). I have used this, purple Welch stone (8000-12000 grit?) and my other higher grit stones only on straight razors. I didn't need sharpening or polishing on my VG10 or SG2 knives yet so King 300, Makita 1200 and Suehiro 1000/3000 were already enough for the softer steel knives. I am maintaining my harder steels just with pasted strops for now.
