Hi all,

here is a quick introduction from me. I am Tobi, the person behind Metal Monkey Knives. I have been a knife maker for about 10 years now and am making my culinary knives now full time for about 3-4 years. I am based in Southern Tasmania and focus on high end carbon steels and pattern welded steel in my knives... cause that is what I like to use myself.

Looking forward to this forum.

It seems that Tasmania has some serious talents!

What up Tobi! I've been following your work for some time, I really dig what your work! You Aussies make some killer stuff 🤘

Thanks John, really appreciate that. I am certainly enjoying your content as well... still fondly remember the Porsche Steak Knife Set...

Welcome to the forums, Tobi.

For some reason, I had the idea that you were on the Surf Coast but I see that you are based down in Huon in Tassie.

Looking fwd to absorbing some of your knifemaking wisdom.

Thanks mate,

I was based in Torquay for many years but made the move to Franklin in Southern Tassie about 2.5 years ago. Things were getting too crazy down the Surfcoast for my liking.

Cheerio

Coming to the Sydney knives show this year mate??
You betcha! Planning to bring some pretty cool stuff as well. Some nice new damascus, some of it integral, san mai with super carbon steels (Apex Ultra, 1.2562, TNT 666)... And some other fun stuff. Would be great to catch up. Will be next to Newham Knives again...

Nice I’ll come most likely on the Saturday
any other things you would like to see on the table?
That’s a very good selection you have, all I can think is some twisted wrought iron one and some semi integral

Aahhh. That makes sense.

I spend a few days down on the coast most summers. I kinda get what you mean. Ridiculously busy in peak times.
