Hi

My name is Martin from JHB in South Africa.
In our Covid lockdown period I started making knives. Mostly,my idea was to make knives as hobby and then make a knife for each of my friends. Something they can use forever and know its something I put thought and a lot of effort into.

Unfortunately I don't get to making knives as often as I want to. I work full day, nd only have approx 2 hours after work to get to Knife making but currently we have a lot of Electricity issues in SA and sit without power for between 9 to 12 hours per day. Called "Loadshedding". So its quite a challenge at the moment.

I am joining this forum to learn from more skilled smiths.

Thanx for the welcome.

It changes daily. If I look at Saturday for instance they say off from 06:00 - 09:00 and then again off 14:00 - 19:00 and then off again at 22:00 - 01:00. But tomorrow they might change it to another schedule with different times. There are 8 possible schedules per area.

Annoying, but you get used to it.

Yes , I share your pain . We are in Cape Town and are currently on load shedding . If it was not for generators most of us would be out of business.
