I have had this question for a long time now but never figured out the answer. I have this “white stuff” on my Hasegawa board that I can’t clean off for some reason. It is only on one side but not the other side. The board is more than 5 years old. Anyone know what this white stuff is and how to clean it off? Just wanted to check before I try white vinegar or just sand it…

Not sure what that is, don't have it on my hasagawa. Try bleach? It worked well on mine to take the staining off

So I have some general discoloration on mine. I can get a it of it out with the scrubber thing that they sell to re finish the board.
Haven’t tried this myself. But…..
You can also try to use some salt and half a lemon to scrub it. May not get it out but I’m sure it won’t hurt it and isn’t so aggressive as bleach.

I’ve always successfully used Clorox bleach to remove stains on my Hasagawa board (this is the concentrated formulation at 7.5% sodium hypochlorite). I pour a small amount on the board and use a small piece of paper towel to spread it over the entire surface. After several minutes it’s entirely stain-free. Thoroughly rinse it after of course. I haven’t yet found any stains that persisted after this process.

Thank you. The white stuff seems to be on the surface for the most part. I did try bleach. No luck…

protip:
wear gloves.
I hate picking my nose with bleach fingers.

Marinate some chicken breasts in turmeric and yogurt for 48 hours. Roast to done in a 400 oven. Rest for five minutes. Slice directly above the soiled area of your cutting board. No more white spots. 😆
This actually makes sense lol

I solved the issue. Stiff nylon brush with kosher salt worked.

You can skip a bunch of steps and just cut turmeric on the cutting board.

I bleach my boards from time to time. Works like a charme.

I just let a thin layer of chlorine sit on the entire board for about 10-15 min. Wash the thoroughly and the are as new. Almost…
