I am lucky enough to have two of Mert Tansu’s customs as well as one of the early HVB knives that Mert put out as a production knife. The difference in cost is dramatic. The HVB knives are significantly cheaper than his customs but IMO offer an excellent example of his work. Though having a more “rustic” finish than the customs the fit and finish of the HVB knife that I have is very high and an excellent example of his work. Using the same 52100 monosteel that Mert often uses in his non-production customs and a slightly simpler handle the HVB knife that I own doesn’t have a production knife feel that one would expect from the lower price. This knife will, I’m sure, be an excellent daily user at what is a reasonable price. It doesn’t deserve to sit.
