"Japan Sword" Kitchen knife

Has anyone ever heard of "Japan Sword" knives? I inherited this knife from my father and wonder how they are perceived by those in the know. I was told it had a bone handle. Use it all the time. I have two of them and the other is more of a chef's knife. Any info appreciated.

Never heard of the brand, but looks like a wood or pakkawood handle to me not bone
