Paid for a couple of very expensive knives that I couldn't say no to yesterday. Need to find new money to pay for my upcoming customs again, so I have to list a few more...
I'm normally a 235mm+ guy, but I make exceptions for shorter knives if they are truly special.
This is a very special one. You can probably say the whole functional art concept is all marketing, but I do think this one qualifies as functional art.
It is beautifully made as you can see. Not only it looks good, it cuts really well. I have always thought knives made by Karys is all about looks and probably won't perform as well for the price point. I was wrong. This one performs brilliantly.
Furthermore, this was a fundraising piece auctioned by moderncooking to "support Ukrainian children who have been affected or harmed as a result of the war in the Ukraine"

I'm the third owner. It was "sharpened once or twice on high grit stones" by the original owner. The second owner didn't use it other than test cuts. I only used it for some test cuts and removed the patina.
This is one of those knives that is a looker and a good cutter.
I'm actually pretty torn about this one, but I can't hoard every knife that I like...so here we go.
I paid about $650 after everything. Asking $575 which includes G&S fee and CONUS shipping. Will cover the first $15 for outside of CONUS.
