倭 (I think)
White super steel
72mm wide
116mm long
5.5mm to 8.5mm long
Blacksmith is dead. Worked in Miki. Famous for Togo steel stuff. Praised by Japan Tool. Has a very classic matte charcoal skin. Steel feels extra extra crisp white steel, in contrast to the more abradable refined Tsunesaburo white super. White super is vacuum remelt white steel, extra pure white steel. Some chips in the edge from when I got it. Comes with chip breaker. I was sold the blade as white super and I don't doubt it, but the kanji differs a bit from the one on the Japan Tool site, but the charcoal skin and kuni stamp are very similar, but the kuni stamp is quite shallow on this.
It gets sharper easier compared to the majority of regular white steel, but there are some steel / blacksmith combos that are comparable, or even exceed it. Imagine a really sharp, tacky, sticky wire burr, but it's actually the edge. Sharpens kinda like the more wear resistant tamahagane... Not exactly like most white steel.
