Awesome steel, awesome knife, great grind, super comfy handle, ****** tang install. Hard heat treat, definitely hard even for a j knife, but amazing sharpening feel with a little more wear resistance than a low alloy steel. Does take a jnat edge, pretty decently, better than some blue or whites I've had. If I was forced to say a rhc . . . I'd guess 62. Not as hard as Takahashi Hamono steel, not super close, but sorta close to it, a bit softer. Feels chalky in a good way, buttery but more coarse . . .so pleasantly chalky.

Need to refinish and thin a bit. Forge mark near tip on left side, like a deeper nashiji type thing 1/3 mm deep. I straightened and removed a recurve at heel. Good even grind -- thin convex near edge and slight hollow in blade face. Comes with red case, not sure if leather or fake leather; I opened some stitches 1/3 toward the tip to get some cloth out that got stuck.
