Yep, they are lovely. They were also the first blue 1 cleavers made in sakai. I have quite a few cleavers and it's one of the top 2 in my little collection. Nice convex grind with a forged s grind almost like a shig except the lower convex is higher which means it cuts lovely while having pretty good separation. The size may be a bit unwieldly to non cleaver users. I have a crazy blue patina going on with mine.

Thanks for the info! Saw it out of stock on Migoto and thought it looked spectacular. Where did you find yours?

Oh damn. I would’ve jumped on that. Let me know how it performs!!

I’m curious about the big boy. 550g cleaver is interesting. It must just fall through everything.
I wasn’t in the pass around, but I’m interested in the cleaver, just would love to grab it if it is ever available again.

that's pretty much the case for the migoto blue 1. It's 2nd in weight amongst all my cleavers and for anything except hard stuff it's literally drop thru.

and here is my heaviest one for comparison, both are quite beast.

I have one. It’s phenomenal. I remember seeing these on ig and I stalked them. I think there was like four. I spaced it off the morning of their release, but remembered in time to get the last one. Sometimes people worry about harder steels and cleavers. This Tanaka blue 1 holds an amazing edge while still feeling very stable on the board. The finish is really nice and the grind is superb. It is the heaviest of my three Tanakas, but it’s not much heavier than my blue #2 fm. It really drops through food effortlessly. It has a little meat to it at the top then wonderfully convexes to very thin bte. Just a wonderfully done piece. Also takes a very nice patina, get a lot of blues and I didn’t even try.

you know i know haha, it's such a joy to use.

Wow very nice cleavers there. I tend to like aogami steels more for things like nakiri and cleavers.

thanks for sharing.
