Hi KKF!

Introductions isn't really my forte, but since it's a requirement I can't really shy away I guess.

Henric is my name, I'm born and raised in Sweden which is also where I live today together with my wife and kids.
My knife- & sharpening-interest started near the end of 2022 when I stumbled onto some knife sharpening-videos on youtube and realised it looked incredibly satisfying (and could only imagine how satisfying it would be to get my own knives sharp rather than paying for the service).
In the beginning of this never-ending rabbit hole of knives, steel, profiles, grinds, geometry, stones, abrasives, binding agents, to strop - or not to strop, etc, etc. - I quickly learned that one needs to be even more sceptical than usual to be able to filter actual facts and good advice from the typical internet-licenced-experts who, more often than not, just parrots others.

I've been browsing KKF for several hundred hours since I found it back in the beginning of the year, and the knowledge that many of its members possesses (and are willing to share) and the sheer nerdery is just amazing. This is perfect for someone like me, who loves geeking out on seemingly unimportant details and read about it until my eyes bleed. (Although, this usually creates a bit of a catch-22, because the more I learn, the more questions arises, which can be a bit of a problem when the head-HDD continuously run out of space 😏)

Anyway, enough ranting. I've been lurking here for quite some time now and I thought it was time to create a user and say Hi to everyone. (And also give thanks for all the great threads I've read on this form thus far) So thanks - and Hi!

Looking forward to being a part of the community - If you have any questions, let me know!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the hospitality!

@Qapla' : Only swedish knife I own is an old outdoors Morakniv with red plastic handel which serves it’s purpose as a ”tool for many different things” in my toolbox🙂 I would gladly hear about recommendations of quality kitchen knives made in Sweden.
I have only recently started scratching the surface of the knife-world and there is so much to explore and learn. Right now I’m most of the time trying to remember the names of the makers/smiths/etc that I have found interesting, but I have a tendency to forget and/or mix names (I’m exceptionally bad with names, unfortunately🙂)
Thanks for the question!

@Benuser thanks for the tip! I saw your tip in another thread here on KKF a while ago and have been using it quite heavily ever since, very useful tip 👌

Welcome Heer! Have a few moras myself. They are a lot of fun for mods. Just pulled this one out of the garage and guess it needs a clean up 😄

I made a "short" list of Swedish makers for a Swedish friend of mine a while back. If I lived there, I'd visit all of them. Such amazing knife making talent in that country.
