I have had this stone over 20 years, my one original medium grit stone. It is muddy, and has the typical earthy smell of the mountain stones. The stone is intact but does have some edge chips as noted.

Typical of the Tsushima stones. Uniform, fast to slurry and a reasonable medium finish. No visible flaws on the stone.

Clean example of a Monzento, very red, uniform, muddy, easy to work with.

SOLD 4) Amakusa stone, 220 x 65 x 65 mm, 2190 gm, asking $60, $30 buyer to pay shipping

maybe 1000 grit or so, slow cutting, works best with a starter atoma slurry. Leaves a relatively even scratch pattern
even though it sounds a bit coarse when using it. Thirsty stone.
