I might be interested, but can you supply some history? Store where you bought it and when? Is this from Hitohira? Also, why is there no damascus pattern on the back of the blade like the other hitohira sakuras?

Hi,

It is not from Hitohira, I got it from a local store in Japan while traveling (Tsubaya probably).

In terms of pattern, I think it is only the right side for single bevel one, like sakimaru-takohiki ones.

Not sure about the reasons but I guess the curved back side is difficult to mirror polish and add patterns.

That’s because it’s a stainless blade. They’re always like that, no jigane on the back as the bar stock is prelaminated on rollers. The hagane doesn’t react to blasting because it’s too hard for most blasting agents, so no flowers.
