This is an almost New Sakai Kikumori 180mm Bunka. I got it earlier in the year. I have another 180mm Bunka and a 180mm Nakiri so hard to justify this one!

Except for a light patina on the working edge, it's hardly used - sharpened lightly one time only.

From a Vegan household, this knife has never seen any meat or bones, and has only been used on a soft Hinoki cutting board.

The blade core is Aogami Blue No. 2 between stainless.

I've found this series from Kikumori to be excellent - thin behind the edge, almost "laser-like" for such a rustic knife. It steers straight through hard stuff like cabbage.

The handle is upgraded over the usual Magnolia and is Japanese Walnut with a black pakkawood ferrule.

The original box and papers are included.

This knife cost $285 new.

Shipped and Insured USPS To Your Door $195.

USPS MO or PayPal "Friends & Family" (Preferred).

PM me for details.

These are the exact measurements taken from this individual knife (not generic cut and paste measurements):

*Actual Blade Length 7-3/8" / 187 mm
*Blade Height At Heel 2-3/16" / 55.5 mm
*Width Of Spine AT Heel 1/8" / 3 mm
*Handle Length 5-5/16" / 135 mm
*Overall Knife Length 13-3/16" / 334 mm
*Weight 5.71 oz / 161 g

Interesting, thanks for the pointer @miggus

Do you know who the blacksmith is?

Cheers
It's rumored that Matubara is the blacksmith, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I had a Matsubara 210 Gyuoto, and it was not as fine behind the edge or straight-driving as a 210 Sakai Kikumori Nashiji/Blue2 I had. Ditto this Bunka. I think these are a sleeper/under-appreciated series and a lot of knife for the money. Besides this Bunka, I have another Sakai in the same Nashiji/Blue2 line.

I have one of these. it's fun one. super thin BTE, tall and doesn't feel fragile. The one for sale appears to be 1.5mm taller than mine. The SS clad gets a bit of patina which IMO adds to the cool factor.

While back had a convo about whether it's Matsubara or not- they leaned towards 'no'. I'm on yes, but the QC of my Matsubara shiro1 vs Sakai Kikumori b2 is nite and day. Also the Matsubara bunka versions are typically 50mm vs 55mm in height.

I'd also throw my hat in for Matsubara as the maker. There is a big difference between the finish and grind of his White1 and Blue2. The Sakai Kikumori is very very similar to his Blue2 knives. In any case, these are excellent knives. One of my favorite smiths currently.
