Hello everyone,
I’m a hobbyist knifemaker, just starting out. I’ve gone from buying knives, to jnats, to now occasionally making knives.
My latest project has been attempting to make vitrified diamond stones, and there has been some small successes. The picture below is a tiny homemade vitrified diamond 1k. The slurry crudely indicates that the stone is quite hard and slow wearing
This is mainly to work with steels with higher MC carbide volumes. These don’t really abrade too well with traditional abrasives. The challenge now is to scale up the size to 210 x 70, and also find the optimal ratio of abrasive, filler, and binder.
