Perhaps I'm a little late on this one, but I acquired one pretty recently.
Fit and finish is quite good, no gap or step between the ferrule and handle. Spine and choil were relieved but not enough to prevent me from rounding a bit more on my own. The handle doesn't have the most rounded corners ever, but it's not uncomfortable.
OOTB edge was good but not great. I haven't sharpened it yet but I can update this thread whenever I do, if I remember to. Geometry is thin but not super thin, kinda similar to Ogata's knives. It has a pretty pronounced convex grind that makes the whole knife ever so slightly thick starting around 10mm from the edge; I'll probably bring that up and reduce some of the convexing next time I thin to improve performance a bit.
Overall, if you're looking for something in Hap-40 that doesn't break the bank, it's really hard to beat. It's thinner than a Kohetsu ootb at a similar price. A Sukenari or Yoshihiro will probably perform a bit better if you don't care about the price.
