Here's a Shi-Han A2 that I bought directly from Shehan's shop in Santa Fe about 18month ago. It sports a handle by another new Mexican, Cody Paul (African blackwood and ringed gidgee).
Besides the custom handle, this knife has seen two major renovations one good, one not-so-good. The good: I had Shehan thin the blade, more in the front half than the back half. I have only used it once or twice since the thinning.
Now, the not-so-good: thinning changed the balance that I had worked so hard to achieve with Cody. To bring it back to where I wanted it, I lopped off about 3/4 inch of the butt end of the handle. It corrected the balance, but it exposed the pine dowel. You can see it in the picture.
Anyway, it's for sale because I want to buy another knife on the BST. I also don't use it that often because I prefer a more reactive blade. The A2 is semi-stainless. Shehan says it's heat treated to around 60 if I remember.
Specs:
241mm x 53.5mm
247gr.
3.2mm above heel
2.8mm at the middle
1.5mm one inch from tip
I paid $500 + $100 for the handle + $50 for the thinning. I'll sell it for $450.
Let me know if you have any questions...
