Shun dual core steel any good

First I've heard of it but just a quick look leaves me with a strong sense of why?

I don't get the attraction of merging those steels and at those prices I personally would just move on.

I agree. I purchased a Shun Hikari 6” chef knife because I really liked the geometry of the blade, its looks, and how it cut when I used it for 15 mins.

But it does not hold an edge very well.

The sales pitch is dual steel (VG 10 & VG 2) wears at different rates creating micro serrations. It is #B.S.

Like I said, I got it dirt cheap. Steel-wise, I got what I paid for. But it is still that very fine Shun fit &finish.
