This is the softest stone, natural or not, I’ve ever used. It slurries more readily than something like a King 800 in my experience. This makes it quick and very easy to use for polishing and sharpening, though you need to be aware of using the whole surface so it doesn’t go out of flat too quickly.

Has some very unique polishing characteristics one might find useful. First it’s fast, an excellent way to remove synthetic scratches setting up a base polish for more refined stones or also great for maintaining a working finish on a daily use knife. It also leaves a very white and flat finish on hardened steel. Not the best for contrast on San mai, but the finish on honyaki or mono is unique in that it can totally trap the light leaving a matte surface. Very cool. Much like the softest coarsest uchigumori.
