This sale is a bit less miscellaneous than my previous "yard-sale." All prices include domestic CONUS shipping, happy to make arrangements for elsewhere as well. Discounts can be given for multiples. Could maybe be talked into trades for other interesting naturals or interesting knives. Happy to answer any questions and provided additional pictures, etc. Reasonable offers welcome.
Also have a Kasfly sandpaper holder up for sale, can be bundled with any of the above for a discount too.
*SOLD* Namazu / Renge Suita, $525 $425 (1707g, 202x75x47) - Full size suita, sold to me as Ohira, but ... I'm always skeptical of anything sold as Ohira without stamps and detailed documentation. It's very soft and the lines, while scary looking, are benign at this time. Quickly works up a nice mud and refines to a silky polish without effort. Point and shoot kasumi. Performance wise, reminds me very, very much of a fine Ohira uchigumori I have. Sealed.*withdrawn* Numbered renge / sumingashi suita, $385 $265 (1146g, 207x75x30) - I don't know the mine or full history here. Stone is stamped 610 and the box as well. Very clean stone. Relatively hard. Fantastic edges. Good detail and contrast for polishing, but it is scratchier on the iron that I expected. Maybe with further lapping or a nagura slurry that could be fixed. Sealed with cashew on the sides.*SOLD* Nakayama koppa, $95 (265g, 175x65x15) - Oddball here. Its soft enough to not need a nagura, but doesn't feel particularly fine under the knife. But it gives these crazy detailed polishes with a very nice holographic surface. I see tons of potential here for crazy nice finger stones, but figured I'd offer it up to anyone who wanted to have a go at making it into bench stone. Will need a dai for that purpose.- Ohira ao renge suita,
$820$755 (1314g all in, 197x72x35 - stone only, excludes resin) - Rare and beautiful stone. These are hard, glassy, reactive, not as fine as you'd think, and generally just a PITA. But there is something about these that keep me coming back. Every once in-awhile the stars align and I get a great polish out of it, but usually the finishes are a little scratchy... Core typically takes on mirror polish with detailed clad, again, scratchy. Very, very quick stone with a forced slurry (slurry starts purple!) leaving a terrific base for fine Awasedo. The edges off this are absolutely insane, tons of tooth and feedback and tooth during the cut, but drop through performance as well (see pick with just water to see how quick it removes steel). Stone came to me encased in resin, so it sits dead flat in a holder and also will never break. I really like this for uraoshi as well, especially in applications where I want a touch of bite. Only selling because I have 2 now. *SPF* aka renge suita koppa, Okudo? $100 $60 (570g, 115x80x25 avg) - small, hard, fast, decent high finish contrast in a small package. Sold to me as Okudo but Im usually mine skeptical so marking that as questionable.*SOLD* Maruoyama kuro renge suita, $325 $295 (1024g, 183x73x33) - I love these, a little firmer and finer than other varieties of Maruo suita, but still easy to use. Mildly reactive, but a little washing soda in a spray bottle makes it so that you have to be careless to stain the blade. Very clean stone. Only selling because I have another one.*SPF* Narutaki tomae, $100 $60 (444g, 158x60x20) - Bought thinking it was an asagi and could live on my bathroom counter as a small razor hone. Turns out its a tomae stone that is a darn nice point and shoot kasumi stone. Not the smoothest and not the highest detail, but easy and clean.- Soft iromono, ,
$375$290 (881g, 195x75x28) - This is the softest Jnat I have ever used - muds up like a soaked King 800. Not the finest stone, but with careful water management and pressure control "scratch free", matte finishes are possible. Very clean with no inclusions at all from what I can see. Never going to offer oodles of detail, but very good at erasing synthetic scratches and leaving a clean surface. *SOLD* Uchigumori koppa 1, $105 (471g, 163x59x20) - Bought a few kg of uchigumori awhile back for making of finger stones and ended up with more than I bargained for. This could probably end up serving as a tiny bench stone honestly... I've tested it for that and found the lines to not be an issue - typical for uchi.*SOLD* Uchigumori koppa 2, $75 (358g, 132x52x20) - Same as above, but odder shape*SOLD* Uchigumori koppa 3, $60 (234g, 130x56x15)- same, even odder shape*SOLD* Uchigumori koppa 4, $45 $40 (507g, 140x63x24) - less clean that the above stones
