Catch and release. Cool knife, but I bought more than I can use.

Here's the original thread I bought it from http://www.kitchenknifeforums.com/showthread.php/30344-tanaka-migaki-240-ginsan -- $175 including pp and CONUS shipping. Haven't used it or sharpened it since I got it. No trades at this time.

This one has a Ho wood D-handle not ebony octagonal that James installed. Got it from chinacats.

Thank you.

It looked pretty symmetric to me, but I didn't cut with it and my attempt at making a choil shot failed miserably. Maybe someone who has one can chime in.

There's a little more convexity on the right side, but these things are so thin that I don't think it would be an issue. Here is the choil on mine

and next to my Tanaka B#2, pre-thinning, for comparison

The K&S ebony handle is super nice, but I bet that simple ho handle gives it a little nicer balance honestly

edit: sorry for the monster pics! hope they are helpful

No problem. I wouldn't hesitate to call this knife a 'laser', you'd be hard pressed to find a better thin stainless gyuto for the money. I like the Ginsan better than the ubiquitous swedish stainless too, better retention in my experience and nicer feel on the stones (though Ashi stainless sharpens easily as well). Plus I don't know if there will be any more of these. GLWS!
