The finest stone I have is a Shapton 2k.
From there I usually just go to my Dialux green coated strop.
I was about to get a 5k stone but then came across this range of pastes from Tech Diamond Tools.
I had a lot of unused strops and I figure that for $21 for three syringes of paste (4k, 8k, 50k) it was worth experimenting.
I asked them to supply me with their 2k paste as well and managed to get an edge back on a totally blunt knife albeit with a bit of effort.
I am really happy with results. I tried them on my pocket knife as well as on this Shun santoku and they really did make a difference.
Their customer service via their website has been excellent and they really do seem passionate about their products, all US made.
