Which blade for Push-Cut and $160 vs $275, is there a value difference?

When the blade is not so tall (under mid 40's) and matched with a high western grip, my middle finger's 2nd knuckle is really close to the cutting surface. I guess I have a pretty "aggressive" pinch grip? I hold pretty forward on the handle / blade. For me it just doesn't feel "right". Maybe it's because I used a giant Chinese chopper for so long?

I ended up buying the Masakage Koishi Santoku 165 for USD 179 (nice sale). I know most, if not all here, advised against this purchase. I do appreciate all the valuable comments, this has been a great learning experience... but... Well, I hope this wont got down as another stupid purchase....
