Hap Johnson came from the little logging town I live in. Most of his family still lives around here and are my neighbors. He was the stand in for John Wayne in North to Alaska when they had the high climbing contest.

Not a knife related video but still quite awesome.

That is really nice! And also interesting how old experienced guys stick with M cars! They just know what brings the best joy!

Hah well I posted this in Off Topic Room already, but it is pretty cool. So using lasers to etch nano structures on the surface of metal, you can make a super hydrophobic surface. I brought up the fact that it would be wicked cool to do this on a knife. Someone did. Here's cutting water with such a knife...

Final Fantasy Knife Set from Super Fan Builds.
They don't look very ergonomic for actual use, but I still want it.

I think that's case closed for the "is it the carpenter or is it the tools" debate.

Ok, has anyone here used the Yamada woks? It kind of looked like they were mostly flat bottom, something I would need for our electric range.

So I ended up getting one, even on a gas range its too thin and loses heat too quickly, might be a better on a induction cook top. But for now the cast iron wok is still king.

It's quick, but I really dig the technique at 1:29
