Nine Gyuto 208x56mm. Blue 2 in soft iron and bog oak handle. 204g. Got lucky on a draw far earlier than I'd anticipated. Chuffed to bits with it, feel like I could stand there all day chopping. Got a nice patina from doing some watermelon. Photo could show it better.

Guirec Péron 216x35mm Petty. Inox304l w/ 135cr3. Walnut Handle. 146g. Wanted to try this smith for a while and this popped up on Instagram. I'm intending this as a 'line knife' for work, as naturally a new kitchen is a decent excuse, right? Love the aesthetic and I'll be using it at home tonight.

Clement Knives 201mm San Mai Gyuto with W2 core steel and recycled NOS cannister cladding Skeleton Fund 200mm Gyuto in N690. Handles are recycled fishing crates and I actually like holding them. Skeleton Fund one's a collab with Silo (restaurant in London). I've never been but I like the colour...

Nothing too special here, just 3 work knives: F. Dick Premier 250mm. There's still some pearlessence left to the handle. Not going to win any awards (despite what's written on the blade) but it does what I need it to. Wanted to post because I never see these anywhere. K-Sabatier slicer, 240mm...

    Unpopular opinions

I can kind of see the logic when the knives are related to each other, like I've seen a petty and gyuto from the same maker with matching handles, but recently it's just a couple of quality knives together.

    Knife findings

Still some of the drop from Prendergast still up from yesterday. 1 wrought iron and some integrals.

Majime lost my business for life

Fair enough, but the issue is that he doesn't have an original idea, other smiths were doing this milling before him and selling it. He's trying to profit off of something he learnt from others.

AG Klint had a drop yesterday, there's still a 250mm Gyuto and a pretty sexy go mai Bunka still there. I love my thin cleaver from him.

    Knife findings

Yeah, I didn't expect that to go so quickly. The one I wanted sold as I was trying to checkout so I've left it for this one, there'll be more :) Good to hear that they're solid though, I'm keeping my eye out for the right one from him. What did you pick up? If that's not dragging this thread too...

Clement Knives with a drop that happened at 14.00 (GMT). He makes the handles from plastic waste washed up on beaches. More interesting materials and techniques used with these than his side project. Haven't tried these out yet, but I like what he's doing. Found here Here's an example: From...

    Knife findings

There's an offshoot of Clement Knives in Scotland called The Skeleton Fund that focuses on sustainability. The handles are recycled plastic from the sea and a chunk of the price goes to charities. They've just done a knife with Silo, a zero waste restaurant in London. Stainless knives from N690...

    Induction cooktop (EU)

Yeah, I'd figured that out, unfortunately it's too late to really do anything about it. Cheers for what you've written though, it's been helpful. That's one I've been looking at, how good are the touch controls? Like do they respond when you/it are caked in whatever?

    Induction cooktop (EU)

This is really disconcerting to read as someone who had narrowed it down to either a Siemens or an AEG... Any chance you could expand on the hybrid controls? I would very much like something with physical controls, but the price jump for Smeg or Lofra is too much (double the AEG). I worry that...

Moning all. I'd love to show off a rectangle given the month, but my life's currently in boxes, so here's the last good photo of a knife I took: a Dikristo Gyuto from his Pro-line. Razor thin and it excels at the fine work. SS makes it practical for work, although I use it at home too. Love the...

    Favorite kitchen shoes?

Hey, just wanted to throw my 10 pence in and cast a vote for Merrells. They do an ultralight pair with non slip and a steel toe-cap that were absolutely perfect for the last 2 years. They're dead now and there's no option to get them in the EU any more, so I've been using a pair of Pumas with...

    Hi from Germany

Servus und Eben! I've been admiring his stuff for a while. I was mega confused and then see that he's actually commented on here. Haven't felt this starstruck in a while :p Hello and thank you. I'm sure you hear this often, but a cleaver by you is on my bucket-list. Eines Tages :) Cool and...

    Hi from Germany

Cool, small world. I've only visited for the football. How far east? I'm workig my way to Leipzig. Currently moving to Wuppertal though so I've gotten a bit sidetracked.
