Hello All,
Here I have another very nice honyaki for you. The blade is made of 26c3 or "spicy white" as some of you may know it, a steel which is very similar White #1. This will be my first completed blade in this steel, and I'm quite enthusiastic about the results.
This is a very stiff blade, most of the taper occurs in the last 1/3 towards the tip, and the hamon is quite striking. While it was finished at 1200 grit, owing to the repeated etching and polishing cycles this blade has a very fine surface finish.
As with the last honyaki (and perhaps most of them going forwards?) I'm offering this blade as a semi custom. The choice of handle material, point of balance, handle style/construction and dimensions are at the creative discretion of the future owner.
Stills never quite capture the full activity of hamon, so I've included a video that gives the blade a fairly thorough examination in sunlight. I hope you like it!
