Coolest Clad Lines?

One of my favorite parts of any knife is the clad line. I love when it’s an interesting or eye-catching shape and the contrast it gives between the the cladding and core steel. My favorites are stainless cladding (ie kikuchiyo x izo) because usually there’s a brighter (nickel?) layer between the two.

Dead gorgeous. I have no idea how Takada gets that one layer to look so bright. I wonder if it’s how he polishes it or if he’s got one layer of steel that’s different than the rest.

I still have a soft spot for Hiromoto AS. Some of those cladding lines were drippy and incredible--especially for one of the early-gen SS-clad knives.

Deep Impact and Ikazuchi has some character in the clad lines.

Tanaka Kyuzo stainless and Shi.han's stainless clad lines are both very cool.

I also love this regular sanmai from Makoto's Ryusei line. It's a nightmare to try to take good pictures of indoors w/ overhead lighting but I always thought it was cool without being gaudy.

From my knives for sure Takada B1 Suiboku (Y Tanaka). The billowy clad line is crazy

The etching on this tetsujin metal flow makes the cladding line look kind of like a black sand beach with waves lapping up onto it
