Bought this Dalman S-grind honyaki gyuto directly from Robin a couple years ago. It comes with a kiri box too. Sharpened a couple times on a high grit stone and comes with some very nice patina too in my opinion. Asking 365 GBP (465 USD). International shipping - very happy to ship and can work that out in the pm's but I'll cover up to what I pay locally

Looked back through my messages with Robin and had this explanation for different location of Dalman maker's mark: "It had a crack in quenching just on the edge by the heel. So I moved the heel forwards and logo moved to the tang".

Length heel to tip: 194mm
Height at heel: 51mm
Weight: 164g
Spine thickness at handle: 3.5mm
Steel: Carbon steel honyaki (Robin didn’t disclose the steel)
Handle: Curly Maple

I have no doubt it's a dalman based on the grind and general appearance. The price is very, very good for a honyaki. Did he designate this knife a "second" for some reason, thus also explaining the lack of makers mark on the blade? If so, I assume that the reason is unrelated to performance. Maybe some cosmetic thing that you can't even really perceive?

Thanks for pointing this out. Forgot to mention it was missing a maker's mark. I remember there being a reason. Let me check my messages with Robin for the exact wording

Okay this was the message from Robin, "It had a crack in quenching just on the edge by the heel. So I moved the heel forwards and logo moved to the tang"

Based on this seems it was a 210 that Robin turned to a 190 while making it. If I remember correctly too the price (and therefore my price) was lower than the other honyaki because of it. Comes with a Dalman Kiri box and wasn't sold to me as a second by Robin but definitely something for people to know. Thanks again for pointing it out

Okay so in other words it has nothing to do with the quality of the knife as it stands. That is good to know and I'm sure it's important information for the soon to be lucky buyer.

Thanks for the research. My own <200 slot is full (with another s grind knife, believe it or not). Otherwise I'd be redeeming some British Air miles myself 😆 GLWS this is a rare knife at a really attractive price!

Yep that's exactly it. Still good info to include and edited the original post to include Robins explanation too.

What S-grind sub 200 do you use? Another Dalman?

Nothing that rarefied. I've got a combo of a shindo 180 s-grind nakiri with custom tostadas handle and a 180 takamura r2 migaki. Between the two of them, I'm covered at that length and I need to sell like 10 knives currently as it is 😆

Anyway, don't want to spam the thread at this point. I think that the knife you're selling, and the price point, really speak for themselves, and I'd be shocked if this sticks around through the end of the day even.
