Hey all,
To go with my knife sale thread will be this one with my sharpening stuff. I’m not a polisher and don’t have any examples to show you other than what’s on the store page I bought from. I just enjoyed the user experience and edges. These are my favorite stones after battling out a couple dozen and are honestly a little harder to list than the knives. Prices are shipped CONUS.
F. Dick Micro Steel - $80
I bought one of these after I forget which maker recommended them here and it became a staple in my kit. It’s smooth to the touch and doesn’t really seem to remove much of anything, but leaves a fresh feeling edge for a long time before needing to sharpen again. Can be used on knives up to 65 hrc.
Shoubudani Akapin - $450 SOLD!
I like maxim’s description “fine as a very fine aoto, with the hardness of a finisher, but easier to use”. It’s a great experience using it every time and leaves a long lasting edge around 3-4K. This is my favorite stone to finish on for general use and has better feedback than anything similar I’ve tried. It’s a special one for sure.
JNS Link: Shoubudani Akapin Lv 2 (a2650)
Ohira Tomae - $350
For my preference this is the finest stone I like to use for double bevel knives. Sometimes you just need a little more refinement and can’t sacrifice much longevity. That’s where this lives for me. A clean edge, with just enough tooth to last through any job. This includes the pictured nagura.

Thanks!
