After several late nights lurking, I thought it was time to join. I'm a casual home cook with an obsessive personality. Still learning about what I like and trying to improve my sharpening skills. I've recently learned that expensive knives pay for themselves over just a few home cooked meals.

Also like long walks on the beach.

Thanks friends, really excited to be able better access the resources here.

Thanks! I'm down in Fort Lauderdale myself. Not much in the way of in person shopping down here either. In a perfect world I'd be able to hold a knife before i buy it.

In a perfect world there would be a lot of things different. Out of curiosity, what is your favorite knife you own?

I don't quite have a strong favorite just yet, but I do use a Yu Kurosaki R2 Senko 150 petty most frequently. If I'm making a quick salad for lunch or a meal for one, I find myself going the one knife approach. Chopping lots of different things, but in small quantities it's my go to. I also just got Tanaka Kyuzo Gyuto in b1, so I'm hoping that becomes the new favorite after i get some time with it.

Welcome from St Pete. Closest knife store is in NYC. Favorite is in LA.
Thanks! seems like Canada did a better job covering their population with knife shops. I feel like there are a few places in Miami that could support a brick and mortar.

Chubo's and The Knife Roll both have US distro centers in Fl - Chubo's in Miami/Ft Lauderdale. But neither has a retail presence. AFAIK.
