Hello,
My name is Sam. I live in Ireland currently and have been doing so for the past 11 years. I work in healthcare. I have always been interested in metalworks and finally got my first Japanese knife. I enjoy cooking, fishing, golf, sharpening, straight razor restoration when time permits and the use of them. I use mostly natural stones.
The knife I got is a Kisuke Manaka B2 santoku. It is a lovely knife. Very easy to sharpen (Cretan stone), but mostly I just strop it on canvas and leather. Funny thing is when I first got the knife the handle smelled amazingly. I even reached out to the seller to ask if they used a special oil, but the reply was that it is the natural smell of the sandalwood used. Mind you I have used many soaps and aftershaves with sandalwood scent, but nothing like this.
I hope to learn a thing or two here about knifes.
Thank you for having me.
Kind Regards,
Sam
