I’m Jonathan, an enthusiastic home cook and handmade knife collector. I favor japanese cuisine for its single ingredient - centric spotlight approach to food.

I joined this forum to share appreciation for handmade japanese knives and to trade with other passionate collectors.

Its been challenging; the pandemic closed some of my favorite spots. Tsukushinbo (classic old style sushi in chinatown), Cask & Trotter (smoked bbq), Pasta Bella (true smalltown italian), and The Northlake Tavern (pizza pub).

From those remaining, I think I’d have to say Chiang’s Gourmet in Mapleleaf for chinese american, Dough Zone for Sichuan cuisine and dumplings (a hundred times better than DinTaiFung; Achoy salad is a must), Vince’s woodfired pizza, the Melrose Grill in renton for classy steaks in a relaxed intimate setting, Salty’s brunch for all you can eat crab and other seafood, and Tacos Chukis on broadway for the best asada and adobada tacos in the city.
