Hello:
For your consideration is a 270mm Iwakuni Yanagiba that has been my faithful polishing mule for the past month or so. It's not been used in cooking (except to cut half a cucumber) and the ura has been touched up 4 times in total (to remove burrs during the polishing process).
I'm not sure particularly what model this is but the cheapest Iwakuni I can find is 49500Y ($450) in Japan - and that's without tax or shipping. The more expensive one is 74,800Y ($685).
So, I think $175 shipped CONUS is a rather reasonable offer.
The hira has been flattened and mirrored at 3k and the low spots - save the one at the heel - have been worked out. I've polished the low spot at the heel to 3k sandpaper should you want to go the fingerbang route and even out the kasumi with finger stones - I just didn't see the point in grinding it out and wasting metal. The knife has no edge (because again, polishing mule and I didn't bother with the ura).
Note: the hira and kireha as shown here were all polished on stones or mounted sandpaper. Also, as you can see the handle needed some force to be removed 申し訳ございません
More photos (including ura) incoming.
I am a dingus: apparently I left the knife wet and there is a small amount of rust on the ura. Please check near the heel edge. It can be sandpapered out <5min, and if you would like me to do so before shipping out the knife I can.
