Hairline crack? towards the end of the spine of my Kato, Can't feel it too much with my finger nail, Anyone experience the same problem before?

where was this knife purchased? In the short term I'd fill the fissure with beeswax to expel moisture.
 
I wonder if I should take the handle off and see if it extend to the tang as well

I guess I will, whoever put the handle on did a bad job... just saying...

He's understating things. Thats not the weld line its a fissure ie forging incomplete, and not normal.

I've seen worse handle installs.

Chances are good the crack extends into the handle although shouldn't be an issue for corrosion if you seal the visible bit. What remedy are KW offering?

If it’s brand new, I’d return it.

Personally I wouldn’t want to pay money for a knife that’d get the smith kicked out of the first round of forged in fire.
