This came to me with an (IMo) ugly forced patina and some scratches from sharpening. I sanded it with 2000 grit sandpaper to remove it, but it’s still a little rough finish wise.

Homebutcher special. Tried cutting and the heavily etched finish was draggy. Decided to try polishing. Handle is epoxied on and won’t come off. 75% through 600 grit right now. Will cut good but looks pretty scratchy as is. Haven’t made progress on this project so selling it for a low price.
Dammy has some inclusions and voids as expected of scrap steel damascus. Bevels are actually pretty evenly ground, although the tip is overground.
