Hello and good morning,

looking for some book matched Saya scales, or perhaps some suggestions on trusted vendors.
Miss the good ‘ol days with Mark and Burlsource.

thanks in advance

What species are you looking for? Need already bookmatched to make yourself or sending to a maker? Can you resaw a large block into the bookmatched set?

For desert ironwood check out Arizona Ironwood arizonaironwood.com though you'll have to go through some listings to find the larger size blocks or scales that will be suitable. They got all different species though ironwood is the one they consistently have large sizes available.

Ben of Greenberg Woods greenbergwoods.com can custom cut some for you from his stock of exotics. Similar quality and price to what Mark at Burlsource used to offer.

@exotic_blanks Instagram has a lot of great woods and can custom cut some saya blocks or bookmatched thins for you. I have a couple of stabilized buckeye burl saya sized pieces coming from him in the future.

Rocky Bemis www.rockbswesternwoods.com has some nice salvaged redwood that is soft and easy to use if you're making saya yourself. He's a nice guy and pretty sure he would resaw any large blocks for you if need be.

Do you have a bandsaw? Finding really nice 1/2" boards that you could cut yourself would be much easier, and more economical. For this size lumber a good 10" with a fence would work; Jet, Rikon, Wen and Craftsman all make them.
