Hey All,
You know the drill, stupid prices here and some fun stones for you all to try out. To help on shipping let’s say you have to buy 2 stones minimum? If you want more than that I’ll cut you a silly deal. Prices INCLUDE shipping in the ConUS, sorry no international. Descriptions below the photos
Gesshin 6k speckled resinoid = $45.00
Sigma Power Select II 400 = $20.00
Vermont Green Slate w/ Nagura = $40.00
Dragons Tongue = $30.00
Snakes crazy pricing if you want them all = $100.00
Gesshin 6k Speckled - what is there to say about this stone? It's excellent, it's probably the best 6k stone I've used. Splash and go, cut fast, cuts everything you want it to, nice polish while retaining some contrast, great edges. Basically it's amazing
Sigma Power Select ii 400 - Sigma Power stones to me are criminally underrated/under exposed for how good they are. Very fast cutting, nice scratch pattern, good contrast and bitey but actually nicely usable edges on cheap stainless knives. Splash and go as well so super handy in that way.
Vermont Green Slate - This is a really interesting stone, crazy hard, absorbs no water but does leave an actually usable edge...well barely usable. You get a glorious edge on carbon especially blue steel for the sweet few hours it lasts/1 shift that it lasts. That said where this really shines is for both razors AND as a knife deburring stone, you can really feel and hear the burr/grittiness of the edge as you clean it up. It very "transparent" in telling you how clean your edge or isn't. For razors it leaves a singing edge and again really useful for getting that super clean edge.
Dragons Tongue - This is a unique stone as well, works best with a little diamond plate slurry on top, leaves slightly less fine edges than the Vermont but still very refined. Tiny bit of tooth left, you get maybe 1-2 shifts out of this kind of edge but you can touch it up easily and quickly. I'm just using shifts as reference here but you know that varies a ton on cutting boards, what you cut etc... I like this one for deburring and finishing (lightly) stainless edges. Really nice stone for that and can comfortable be used right after a mid grit stone. I mounted it to a Nanohone Plate so it fits nicely in any adjustable stone holder or pro tip, if you have the Shapton Glass stone holder or that holder and carrier combo these fit perfectly. It's like Hap designed the plates to fit in those too....
